First Cold

January 18th, Sophia definitely had a runny nose and congestion. Saturday, the 19th, she had a low fever, and worried that she might have an ear infection, I took her right in to the doctor. Fortunately, she said that Sophia had, "perfect ears." So, no infection. Sunday the low fever was gone, but not the congestion, and so started 12 days and counting of sleepless nights. Sleepless for Sophia (it's hard to sleep when you can't breathe!) and sleepless for Mommy (it's hard to sleep when your baby's screaming!).

The last couple of days and last night she's been much better. She even went down last night without the screaming and crying (and tonight; we'll see if it lasts!). Let's just say when your baby's sick is not a good time to be a single parent! Sometimes you just really don't know what's wrong. I'm only now thinking it just had to be the congestion, rather than something else.

I will say though, that she's cuter than ever, and really developing her sense of humor. Mom's been teaching her Patty-Cake, and today she even brought her hands together when Mom started singing! (She's precocious, I know!) She's been sitting up on her own for longer and longer periods of time, and today began really balancing herself. But like all things, it doesn't happen overnight; it's just a culmination of slow and steady progress. Friday she turns six months!!!! I can't believe it - half a year! Also, as of yesterday, she weighed 15 lbs 8 oz. She gained a quarter of a pound between doctor visits (9 days). Her next check-up is Tuesday, the 5th (Super Tuesday for those of you following the election) and we'll get a length measurement.

Here's a picture of Sophia with Aunt Jana - you can't really see her runny nose, but you can see the new face she makes with her lips - teeth are sure to come!
